PARIS French shock league leaders Sedan were looking over their shoulders Sunday night not at Paris SG but at emerging challengers Bordeaux, after second half goals from Pauleta and Lilian laslandes brought the Girondins' a 2-0 win at struggling Strasbourg.
The win moved Bordeaux a point clear of PSG and into second place on the table with 26 points. But World Cup-winning striker Christophe Dugarry picked up a groin strain in the process.
Strasbourg's Paraguayan goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, just signed from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield, thus made a losing debut.
Sedan moved clear on 28 points after their eighth win of the season, 2-0 at home to crisis side Marseille, who are stuck in the bottom three.
Paris Saint Germain were held 1-1 by ten-man Lyon at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.
Sedan bagged their win at their new Louis Dugauguez Stadium with goals after the break from Olivier Quints with a 57th-minute spot kick for his fifth goal of the season while Cedric Mionnet weighed in with the second.
Marseille are set to wield the axe soon against their Brazilian Coach Abel Braga, with Lorient's Christian Gourcuff in the frame to take over. The highly-regarded Gourcuff just failed to keep Lorient in the top flight two seasons ago.
Laurent Robert was PSG's man on target as he scored a penalty for his 11th goal of the season but Steve Marlet equalized three minutes later for PSG and Lyon held on despite the dismissal of Edmilson, their Braziulina defender, for a first half Fould on Jerome Leroy.
Lille are fourth but could only draw 1-1 at home to struggling Auxerre and Troyes are fifth after beating fading lens 1-0. Third- placed Bordeaux play relegation-threatened Strasbourg on Sunday.
Bastia's match against Nantes has been postponed until December 13.
